Situated
in a historical city of Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province in
Southeast China, Fujian University of Technology (FJUT) is a full-time
normal university for undergraduate courses initiated by Fujian
Provincial Government. Approved by the Ministry of Education, the
university was established in March 2002 by merging Fujian College
of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Fujian Institute of Technology.
The predecessor of both institutions was the famous ¡°Fujian Gaogong¡±
(Fujian Advanced Technological School) originating from ¡°Canxia
Jingshe¡± (Canxia Elementary Technological School), which was co-founded
in 1896 by Lin Shu, an eminent Fujian scholar and translator and
Chen Baochen, tutor of the last Chinese emperor Fu Yi in Qing Dynasty.
FJUT comprises 12
departments, 2 teaching divisions, an adult school for continual
and vocational education and a software professionals training base.
The departments include Electromechanical and Automation Department,
Electronic and Electric Engineering Department, Computer and Information
Science Department, Civil Engineering Department, Architecture and
Urban Planning Department, Environment and Equipment Engineering
Department, Engineering Management Department, Economic Management
Department, Modern Media Department, Jurisprudence Department, Mathematics
and Physics Department and Foreign LanguagesDepartment. The two
